Levels 1A, 1B Girls

Girls enrolled in Levels 1A and 1B are eligible to perform as Mice and Lead Mice. These roles appear in Act I of “The San Jose Nutcracker.”

Preliminary Casting for Mice and Lead Mice will be announced on September 28. This means who is learning the roles of Mice. Exactly who is a Mouse and who is a Lead Mouse will be decided as rehearsals progress. Lead Mouse is an internal designation and is not listed separately in performance programs.

In-Studio Rehearsal Schedule

Saturdays, 1:45-2:45pm; October 10th - December 12th (no rehearsal October 17 and November 28th)

Up to three in-studio rehearsal conflicts can be accommodated. Please include all conflicts in your registration form and email school@newballet.com with any questions.

Theatre Rehearsal Schedule - Mandatory Availability

Students may not be called for all of the rehearsal times listed below, but must keep all dates and times available until individual Theatre call times are released by November 1. All rehearsals will take place at the California Theatre. The drop-off and pick-up times listed below may shift slightly as production needs become clearer. Families will be notified of any changes.

Wednesday, December 16 — 5:00–7:15 PM

Thursday, December 17 — 5:30–7:30 PM
Tech/Dress Rehearsal — Group 2; possible Group 3

Friday, December 18 — 6:15–8:20 PM

Performance Schedule

Mice and Lead Mice will perform in the performances listed below. We plan to have two casts, so students will likely not be called to every performance. Depending on registration numbers and casting needs, some roles may have three groups, which would result in fewer performances for each group.

Students should be available for all performances listed below for which they do not have an approved conflict. Up to two performance conflicts before December 26 may be approved and must be listed on your registration form. Individual Performance Casting will be released by November 1. As noted in the main registration information, because our Nutcracker season extends through December 27 this year, we will not limit conflicts on December 26 and 27. Families should list all conflicts, including conflicts on December 26 and 27, on the registration form and make every effort to prioritize performances when possible.

NOTE: 3:00 PM and 8:00PM pick up times are at intermission. If you have tickets to one of these shows and would like your student performer to join you in the audience for the second half, they must also have a ticket. You may exit via the Market St. door to pick up your student and escort them back through that same door to have your tickets scanned and return to your seats.

Pay The Participation Fee By September 21

Once you have registered there is a link in the form to pay the participation fee. You also may pay your Participation Fee here if you accidentally exit out of the window. The Participation Fee for Level 1A and 1B Students is $220 (this is waived for Continuing Scholarship Students or students on Financial Aid who are notified that it is waived). The Participation Fee covers the cost of rehearsal staff, backstage theater staff, and costume creation/maintenance. Performance tickets must be purchased through the Box Office.
