The season runs September-May annually. Rehearsals are 1:30-3:30 M-F and weekend afternoons leading up to performances. Company Artist positions are part-time hourly positions and include paid rehearsals (hourly wage based on experience, typically $20-22 an hour, 8-12 hours per week depending on the time of year) and paid performances (all inclusive performance fee based on number of shows, averaging around $120 per show), details available upon request. Studio Company positions are tuition-free, with limited stipends for exceptional candidates. Studio Company Apprentice positions are tuition-based and include a full schedule of training with New Ballet School’s highest level.
AS OF MARCH 10, 2026, due to overwhelming response, New Ballet is no longer processing video submissions for the following positions for the 2026 - 2027 season: Female Identifying Company Artists and Studio Company Dancers. Male Identifying dancers may still submit materials for all positions. Female Identifying dancers may still submit materials for Studio Company Apprentice.
In Person auditions are scheduled as follows:
Saturday, 2/21 at New Ballet: Check In 10:30am-11:00am; Audition Class: 11:00am-12:30pm
Sunday, 3/15 at Alameda Ballet Academy in Alameda: Check In 12:30pm-1:00pm; Audition Class 1:00pm-2:30pm
To audition remotely or to schedule a time to take company class as an audition, please submit your resume/CV and video links to both classical and contemporary work using the form linked below. Ladies should be en pointe for at least part of their audition links, partnering footage for male candidates is highly suggested. This is the preliminary step to scheduling an in-studio or zoom audition. Please note, New Ballet does not sponsor applicants for work visas.
