Nutcracker Preliminary Casting
Preliminary Casting refers to which roles dancers are scheduled to learn. The intent is that all students in Levels Primary A through 4B will perform roles that they are listed for in Preliminary Casting, except when noted that they are learning the role as an understudy. Students listed in Preliminary Casting who miss rehearsals or are unable to learn the choreography may not be cast for performances. Preliminary Casting may change after the first few rehearsals. Students in Levels 5A and up, particularly those listed in preliminary casting as Snowflakes, Flowers, and soloist and principal roles must learn all assigned roles but performance casting (who is an understudy and who is performing) for those roles will not be determined until later in the rehearsal process.
