Toy Soldiers appear in Act 1 of “The San Jose Nutcracker” as cast. Toy Soldiers are a complex dance role inspired by the New York City Rockettes.

In-Studio Rehearsal Schedule

Saturdays - Flowers/Flower Understudies 12:30-1:30; October 19 - December 7 (no rehearsal November 30)
Saturdays - Toy Soldiers:  1:45-2:45; October 5 - December 7 (no rehearsal November 30)
Tuesdays - Flowers/Flower Understudies  6:00-7:00; October 22 or when needed (Students will be called out of Contemporary for this rehearsal when we are ready to start working with their role) through December 3
Sundays both roles: 12:00-3:30; November 10, November 17, November 24, December 8 (including warm up class)

Theatre Rehearsal Schedule - Mandatory Availability

Please check advanced casting to see if there are other times you are scheduled to be in the theatre. All soldiers except those who opted for minimal casting (Iris Balough) are cast as flowers and must attend all theatre rehearsals and performances to fulfill their flower obligations.

Tech rehearsal: Wednesday, December 11th, 5:00-7:15pm Group 1
Tech rehearsal: Thursday, December 12, 5:30-7:30pm Group 2 (with both Kailey Eom and Marionne Hope Tan)
Dress rehearsal: Friday, December 13th, 6:15-8:20pm Group 1

Performance Schedule: MANDATORY AVAILABILITY

STUDENTS MUST BE AVAILABLE for all the performances listed below. Please note that the times listed below are performer drop off and pick up times, not the actual show times. Please see note about intermission pick up.

Please arrive on time but do not arrive earlier than the listed times. If students are late or will be absent for any reason, please text 310-237-8790 with student name and role.

NOTE: 3:00 PM and 8:00PM pick up times are at intermission for students who have opted for minimal casting. If you have tickets to one of these shows and you have opted for minimal casting and would like your student performer to join you in the audience for the second half, they must also have a ticket. You may exit via the Market St. door to pick up your student and escort them back through that same door to have your tickets scanned and return to your seats.

Attire, Hair and Makeup

Students should arrive at ALL theatre rehearsals and performances with their hair and make-up done. All rehearsals and performances will be in costume.

Attire: Arrive in pink tights and a flesh colored liner leotard, bring tan colored character shoes
Hair: Low bun with a middle part
Make-up: Stage Makeup, red cheek stickers will be provided
