2026 Nutcracker Registration
Primary A, B, C, Primary Flex Girls, Japantown 11am class and
Primary Boys

Students enrolled in Primary A, Primary B, Primary C, Primary Flex Girls, the Japantown 11:00 AM class, and Primary Boys 1 are eligible to perform as Dewdrop Fairies or Frogs.

Primary C girls may also be selected as Lead Dewdrop Fairies, a role with additional stage time. To be considered for Lead Dewdrop Fairy, students must register for “The San Jose Nutcracker” and attend the first scheduled rehearsal, during which Lead Dewdrop Fairies will be selected.

Dewdrop Fairies and Frogs appear briefly at the beginning of Act II and do not perform in the 11:00 AM performances.

Families will be asked to indicate a preference for Dewdrop Fairy or Frog on the registration form. We will accommodate preferences on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to casting needs and availability.

Performance Availability

This year, Nutcracker performances run from December 19–27. Because of the extended performance period and the fact that many families make holiday plans during this time, we will not limit conflicts on December 26 and 27.

Please list all known conflicts, including conflicts on December 26 and 27, when registering, and make every effort to prioritize performances when possible.

In-Studio Rehearsal Schedule

Saturdays 11:15am-12:00pm, November 7th, 14th, 21st, December 5th, 12th

Theatre Rehearsal Schedule

Students may not be called for all of the rehearsal times listed below, but they must keep all of these dates and times available. Individual Theatre Rehearsal schedules will be released closer to Theatre Week.

All rehearsals listed below will take place at the California Theatre.

Tech/Dress Rehearsal:

Thursday, December 17, 5:00–6:30 PM (all casts)

Dress Rehearsal:

Friday, December 18, 6:50–9:00 PM (one cast only)

Please keep the full December 18 rehearsal time available. Only one group will be called to this Dress Rehearsal; we will let you know when individual Theatre Rehearsal schedules are released whether your student is called.

Performance Schedule

Dewdrop Fairies and Frogs will perform in the performances listed below. We anticipate casting each student in at least one and up to three performances.

Individual Performance Casting will be released by November 1. Please note that the times listed below are performer drop-off and pick-up times, not the actual performance times. Pickup time may be closer to five to ten minutes after the hour depending on the run time of any individual show, particularly as some shows require a later start due to audiences not taking their seats promptly.

As noted on the main registration page, we will not limit conflicts on December 26 and 27. Please list all known conflicts on your registration form and make every effort to prioritize performances when possible.

Pay The Participation Fee By September 21

Once you have registered there is a link in the form to pay the participation fee. You also may pay your Participation Fee here if you accidentally exit out of the window. The Participation Fee for Primary Division Students is $110 (this is waived for Continuing Scholarship Students or students on Financial Aid who are notified it is waived). The Participation Fee covers the cost of rehearsal staff, backstage theater staff, and costume creation/maintenance. Performance tickets must be purchased through the Box Office.
