Summer Merit Scholarships and Financial Aid

NO AUDITION IS REQUIRED TO ENROLL FOR NEW BALLET SUMMER INTENSIVES.

FOR OUTSIDE STUDENTS
For students not already enrolled in New Ballet School, auditions are required for Merit Scholarships and need-based Financial Aid Awards for the Six Week Intensive, the Four Week Intensive, and the Young Dancer Intensive. These programs are intended for serious ballet students and readiness must be assessed before a Financial Aid award can be approved. Merit Scholarships are rare and based on extremely exceptional talent. Merit scholarships will likely not cover full tuition. Younger and/or less experienced students may apply for Financial Aid for Ballet Camp or Summer Sessions without an audition assessment.

In order to qualify for a Financial Aid award for any program, you must go through our Financial Aid application process. Outside students wait until being assessed for readiness for a program before applying for Financial Aid. Financial Aid awards are very limited due to funds available and may not cover full tuition. Readiness assessments are not required for Performance Camp or Summer Sessions.

You can audition for Summer Merit Scholarships and also be assessed for your fitness to participate in any individual program (qualifying you for Financial Aid), as well as audition for 2025/2026 Company Artist, Studio Company, and Studio Company Apprentice positions (for ages 16 and up) on the following dates and times.

IN-PERSON OPEN AUDITIONS
January 10th, 2025 - (Friday) at ODC in San Francisco from 6:00-9:00pm ages 11 and up (time of audition TBD but will be during this time frame)
February 15th, 2025 - (Saturday) at New Ballet from 11:00 - 12:30pm ages 14 and up
February 22nd, 2025 - (Saturday) at San Benito Dance Academy in Hollister 12:30-2:30pm ages 11 and up (11 - 13 year olds will be dismissed at 2pm)

Please arrive half an hour before the start of your audition to register and check in. Video auditions are also accepted, please email info@newballet.com to audition by video. In-person auditions may also be able to be scheduled during one of our regular school classes if you are not available for one of the Open Auditions, although we highly recommend trying to attend one of those.

Once you have been evaluated for readiness for a specific program, you can move on to applying for Financial Aid. If you are planning to register for financial aid for a summer program, please email info@newballet.com to let us know which programs you are interested in and to help us guide you through the process.

FOR NEW BALLET SCHOOL ENROLLED STUDENTS
New Ballet School Year Round students may apply for Financial Aid without a video or in-person assessment by following the Financial Aid Application Instructions linked above. Year Round Financial Aid students will automatically be notified of their Financial Aid award for Summer Programs if applicable. New Ballet students are also automatically assessed for Merit Scholarships and there is no additional application process. Financial aid is not available for Competition Prep or Variations Intensives.
